“Respect Through Obedience”
Through the month of July, the topic of “Respect” will be our focus. The following excerpt is taken from Joshua Generation publication 9-1.
“If we want to serve God, if we want to show Him that we respect His authority, we can. It is not an unattainable goal. At times, we are tempted to offer GOD less than our best efforts. When this happens, we need to remember the words of Paul to the Corinthian brethren, “no temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; but GOD is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” (I Cor. 10:33).
You might ask how does this verse apply to showing respect for GOD? Well, there are times when I am studying the Bible when I come across something to which I have never before given consideration. And after studying the subject through, I can see that my life is not in line with what GOD’s word says. What should I do? What if I like that part of my life and have no desire to change? Paul is saying, if you trust God at His word, and honestly try to change your life, He is going to help you! You’re not in it alone! That is relying on the honesty and love of GOD to come through with a promise He has made. In other words, your actions are proving your respect for GOD’s word and His authority to rule over your life.”
